Springfield House: built in 1871 by John G. Kavanagh as a hotel to serve the needs of the township councillors meeting at the new Township Hall next door, or the Masons in their second-floor lodge of that building. Referred to as "House" because for most of its history it's been a private residence. Purchased in the 1980s by the township, it was restored through a huge community effort. It functioned for many years as a museum and public library and then as the public research area of the Leeds and Thousand Islands Archives. Currently closed (May 2024) awaiting necessary upgrades. A community group has been formed to develop plans for the future of the building.
